At Playfish Media, we’re dedicated to uplifting underrepresented voices in media production and fostering the next generation of storytellers. We believe that a diverse and inclusive environment is key to creating meaningful stories that resonate with the richness of our world.
To support this vision, we offer annual scholarships to students enrolled in media-centered programs. Our scholarships are specifically designed to help individuals from traditionally marginalized communities, including women, people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, and others who need financial assistance to pursue their career goals.
This year, we’re thrilled to announce our 2024 scholarship winner, Emily Nelson. Emily is currently attending Boise State University, majoring in Integrated Media and Strategic Communications. Emily’s passion for visual art and storytelling has been a lifelong journey, sparked in childhood when she was often seen with a camera in hand. Inspired by her mother’s journey from Ecuador to Boise at eighteen to pursue education, Emily is a proud first-generation college student. She is currently interning at CBS2 News Boise through the Voices Internship of Idaho, an equity-driven program that connects young Latino Idahoans to local newsrooms. Emily’s work in broadcast journalism reflects her dedication to amplifying underrepresented voices, and she aspires to a career in multimedia journalism, where she can continue to make a meaningful impact on her community. As a young Latina and LGBTQ+ individual, Emily brings a fresh, dynamic perspective to the media industry.
