🎉 We’re thrilled to announce @francoispaulbermann as our 2026 scholarship recipient!
Paul began his career as a news reporter in Haiti, where storytelling became a way to highlight the experiences, challenges, and resilience of his community. That passion eventually led him from journalism to filmmaking, with a focus on telling Haitian and Caribbean stories with greater nuance, dignity, and authenticity.
This fall, Paul is beginning the MFA program at Emerson College, where he’ll continue developing his craft as a filmmaker and storyteller.
As Paul shared in his scholarship essay:
“My dream career isn’t just to make films. It’s to build the infrastructure that doesn’t yet exist for the next generation of Haitian storytellers.”
His long-term goal is to establish Haiti’s first film and media school and create more opportunities for future Haitian and Caribbean filmmakers.
Congratulations, Paul! We wish you great success as you begin your graduate program at Emerson. 🎬🎥🎓
